Consider the parenting time schedule carefully

18647173_s.jpgOne of the most stressful things to handle when you divorce and have children is the child custody plan. Trying to come up with a parenting plan that you and your ex agree to might seem impossible. If both adults can put their own feelings aside, there’s a good chance that you’ll be able to work something out that puts the children’s best interests first.

We know that trying to work with your ex isn’t easy, but we’re here to help our clients find creative solutions to the custody matters that they’re facing. For some parents, coming up with the parenting time schedule is the most difficult thing. Both parents probably want as much time as they can with the kids. You have to think about work, school, and extracurricular activity schedules when you’re trying to work out the basic parenting time plan.

On top of the basic plan, you need to come up with a plan for holidays, special events and school breaks. These plans can be challenging but thinking about them now can save you a lot of stress in the future. When you’re coming up with this, be sure you’re as clear as possible about what’s going to happen so that you can prevent any issues down the road.

Other decisions also have to be made, so be sure you’re thinking carefully about what your child needs. One thing that’s usually a good inclusion in a parenting plan is the method of communication between the parents, as well as any guidelines regarding this. We can help you ensure that you have all the necessary bases covered in your agreement.
