Part 2: Divorce trends over the years

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Child Custody on Wednesday, July 3, 2013. In our last post we talked about some divorce trends that many Illinois residents can relate to. Father wants employee perks out of child support calculation

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Child Support on Monday, June 17, 2013. When two parents split up — whether they were married or not — the Illinois courts will use statutory guidelines to determine how much the non-custodial parent should be paying in child support. A recent Gallup poll released the findings from the annual Values and Beliefs survey. The survey found that an overwhelming majority of respondents found cheating to be morally unacceptable. In fact, 91 percent

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Child Custody on Friday, May 24, 2013. Here’s to a happy and meaningful Memorial Day for all parents and kids. With the unofficial beginning of summer at hand, however, many unmarried and divorced parents are about to begin what can be one of the most challenging times of year for positive co-parenting: summer vacation. Most child custody orders include a plan for the allocation of parenting time, although the specificity of the plan varies widely. Even when a parenting plan is well thought-out, though, life can be unpredictable. Parents have many

On behalf of Stange Law Firm, PC posted in Property Division on Wednesday, May 22, 2013. For people with substantial personal assets or children from previous relationships, it can be important to protect those assets, and their distribution to intended future beneficiaries, before entering into a marriage. For most people, a well-drafted, enforceable prenuptial agreement is the best legal option. However, for a variety of reasons, some prospective spouses simply won’t agree to sign one. What then? If your fiancé or fiancée won’t agree to sign a prenuptial agreement, setting up a trust in advance of the marriage can serve
